Google's Search for Stickiness [Fool.com: Motley Fool Take] April 5, 2005

Google's Search for Stickiness [Fool.com: Motley Fool Take] April 5, 2005

The above article reports that Google may start offering real time stock quotes. Normally one has to pay a subscription fee to receive real time quotes. Everyday Google ads to its list of offered services. Yahoo and Google have each received brokerage recommendations in recent days and earnings reports are due. My family continues to Do the Google Gulp (I'm not talking about the soft drink spoof--see my "Do the Google Gulp" article posted December 30, 2004).

Google is organizing a world of information. I am reminded of an old movie staring Spencer Tracy and Kathryn Hepburn. Hepburn ran a research library and Tracy was sent to install a Univac Computer. The computer simply was not capable of doing all that Hepburn could do. The computer became a major tool of the library but Hepburn was needed to run the department. Google is putting the whole world of information on every desktop in the world. As a person who loves to chart economic data from days gone by, I look forward to having Google stock and bond information available.
